Description
Research Overview
Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic aqueous solution containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is an essential laboratory supply used for the reconstitution of lyophilized peptides, proteins, and other research compounds prior to use in in vitro or preclinical experimental models.
The inclusion of benzyl alcohol at this concentration inhibits the growth of most common bacteria without compromising the stability of most peptides, enabling multiple sterile withdrawals from a single vial over an extended in-use period — a critical advantage in research workflows requiring repeated access to reconstituted compounds.

Laboratory Applications
BAC Water is the standard reconstitution vehicle for most lyophilized research peptides, including the majority of compounds in the BioStrata Research catalogue. The bacteriostatic preservation system allows the reconstituted peptide solution to be stored under refrigeration and accessed multiple times over a 28-day in-use period when proper aseptic technique is maintained.
Note: Certain peptides — including GLP-1 analogs such as Sema and Tirz — may show sensitivity to benzyl alcohol and may be better suited to reconstitution with sterile water or saline. Always consult peptide-specific documentation for optimal reconstitution protocols.
